What is dietary fibre?
Many breakfast cereals and other grain-based foods contain dietary fibre. People who regularly eat breakfast have been shown to have higher intakes of fibre compared to breakfast skippers. Dietary fibre is found in the outer bran layers of grains. This type of dietary fibre, which is also found in wholegrain breads, helps your digestive system and bowels to work the way they should. This is especially important for older people, less active people and pregnant women.
Regularly eating breakfast, including high fibre grain-based foods such as some breakfast cereals, can help keep our insides in good health and working order.
